Hi, I’m Elgin. I am a 5th year PhD candidate in the Pekosz Lab at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology. I investigate the evolutionary dynamics of influenza viruses, focusing on how mutations influence both in vitro fitness, host response and immune escape. Additionally, I maintain several nextstrain builds for seasonal genomic surveillance of H1N1, H3N2 and Influenza B viruses from patients in the Johns Hopkins Hospital Network.
